Reset or Reboot

I like my privacy so much so that even though I work on the 4th floor I use the bathroom on the 3rd floor because there are less offices on that floor which means less people in the bathroom. (That’s just the precursor) Well, yesterday I walked down the stairs to the 3rd floor and down to the end of the hall to the restroom and handled my business. The next thing I knew I was opening the door inside the stairwell to the 4th floor only I wasn’t sure of where I was when I did. For about 2-3 seconds I was lost. I didn’t recognize the hallway and then I did. When I realized that I was now on the 4th floor about to enter the office to where I work, I walked in.

If any of you know me, you know that my mother suffered from alzheimers for over twenty years and had been diagnosed around the age of 53. I’m 49. Well anyway, of course that was the first thought that entered my puzzled mind as I opened the door to the office. My face must’ve been still puzzled when a co-worker asked me if I was okay. I told her what happened and she said I do that all of the time driving to work. I said “Yes, I’ve done it driving lots of times too” but I guess you can do it walking as well, it’s just that it has never happened to me before.” Even still, I chose to go with that instead of the alzheimers theory.

This morning when I got up I thought about the events that occurred the day before in between thoughts of other thoughts. Suddenly I became aware that my thoughts have been all over the place for a few months some finished and some unfinished; and that maybe yesterday’s event was a reset or reboot. I began to think about how many times we go through life on auto-pilot ending up somewhere we know but for some reason can’t recognize only because we have no clue of how we got there. Funny thing is, I’ve been in what I thought was a state of “mindfulness” trying to be mindful of all my intentions and forgetting to be mindful of the moment.

In my day to day any moment that I have in between work (theirs, mine, and the others) I try to stay on top of things and utilize every moment to do something else. The only problem with that is that I am not making time for myself. I’m bombarding myself with everything that I have to do while missing the moments to appreciate the things that I have done and where I am at now; physically, spiritually, and mentally. All I know is, I’ve got to do better. Yesterday’s wake up call leads me to believe that I need to harness the ‘Power of Now‘. I think this weekend I’ll take the time be still.

InkMann Press Series- Movin’ On Up!

InkMann Press Series- Movin’ On Up!

“The destination isn’t necessarily determined by where you are, but more so what you’re doing while you’re there; and what your plan is to move forward.”

PicsArt_11-23-08.43.31

We all have those moments when our minds are made ALL the way up, and we come to grips with the fact that we have to GO forward, work inward, and “move on up”. Sometimes after a burst of Inspiration we believe that we’re ready for a change or an upgrade so to speak. Often we believe we’ve mastered a thing and we feel that we can handle going to the next level or dimension.

Believing it’s time to move on we set our sights to do so. We step out on faith and begin to get our balance when we notice a shift. Just as we get our footing we’re challenged with something that we were sure that we had conquered. We thought ourselves skilled in that particular area, but we quickly realize that we’re not. We’ve got two choices and those choices define our character and everything else about us. What we do next is the most important move we’ll ever make.

The most important moves we make are affected by the chances we take and the decisions we make. You can either stay stuck or you can recognize that you still have work to do and seek to do it so that you get better. What you do at this point defines the movement you’ll make, if any. Every so often I have the opportunity to talk with a woman, who I believe is the wisest woman I know. I’m not just talking people that I personally know either. Anyway, I digress. We were talking about movement. She suggested that movement can also be linear and people not realize it. They are doing events, speaking engagements, but everything that they do is just like the last thing with no movement into another level or dimension. The reality is that they think ALL movement is consistent with growth and that cannot be farthest from the truth. When movement is linear, there is no real growth or success to be had, although they are doing everything to go higher, they’re not moving at all. You see, we can be in a particular geographical location working feverishly on our passions and not be able to move past the city limits. To be able to make the most impactful moves that will lead us outside of our normal borders we have to work from the inside out.

In life we are often challenged and given the chance to take full ownership of our lives and master ourselves. It’s not easy either. This step is not taken for the faint at heart. Deciding to go to a new dimension has to be more than just an idea. You have to be ready to execute on a level higher than you’ve ever been. Think of levels like escalators to Dimensions. The way you think on each level helps you to move to the next level. When moving to a dimension you have to take everything you’ve learned on each of those levels to take you into another atmosphere. Inability to think past your immediate surrounding will only yield linear movement and not dimensional movement. Dimensional movement does not imply a shift but a total transformation.

A lot of times we say that we’re ready to do the work but when it comes down to it, we allow ourselves to get distracted. Sometimes, we believe that it’s too much work so we procrastinate or never finish what we start. Saying you’re ready to do the work but not be willing to change will make your job that much harder. Not because you’re not ready but because you’re unwilling to change. When you want to be the best you that you can be, your actions have to match your words.

During the process we come across the work and sometimes seeing how much work it costs, we begin to faint. Sometimes it’s not the requirement of the work but the act of being responsible for the work. It’s different when someone else is responsible and we’re not held liable. Unconsciously some of us think that if we focus on everyone else it exonerates us from being ready. But when we step one leg at a time into our big girl and big boy pants we tap into the power that we have to move forward successfully. When we are willing to get our feelings hurt, die to ego, let our lights shine, and be ALL that we have ever wanted to be we surpass levels and move into dimensions.

Speaking of dimensions, I’ve heard Oprah say that nothing is ever wasted and as I look back over my life I realize that she is absolutely right. Oprah has moved into many levels and dimensions in her lifetime because she has used everything that she has ever learned.

I too have begun to use everything that I have ever learned without leaving any stones unturned. Even the things I thought were useless have been used in some way. When it was time to move closer to my dreams I added a coach to my life. My coach holds me accountable to do only those things that involve dimensional movement. I have to be honest and say, at first I didn’t enjoy the coaching experience because my ego was in the way. I had a problem with being told what to do when I had been doing it for forty-seven years. She even tap danced on my nerves a couple times, but it took me a minute to understand that she was trying to help me and not hurt me. Even still, it was me who said that I wanted to move dimensionally without full knowledge of what that meant. Full understanding teaches that Dimensional movement allows you to hear the truth, learn the lesson, and execute.

When I used the lessons that I learned I began to feel that I was accomplishing things even when the situation looked like I might not. I learned to see everything as a win because I gained knowledge. Now that I consistently and continually cultivate the lessons that I learn, I find it easier to move on up.

InkMann Press Series–Slow Jams

InkMann Press–Slow Jams

PicsArt_11-23-08.43.31

Along the journey we will experience periods where things seem to be at a standstill.  This is a time when it seems as if something physical is in the way of us moving further into our purpose. Some of us experience this period as a blockage or obstacle and we often feel stuck or get distracted. Even though we have this need to move to the other side of this experience, we sometimes lack the fortitude to do so. As days go by we slowly allow the blockage or obstacle to slow down our momentum which ultimately causes a jam in our growth process.

There are two ways of looking at a “standstill” moment that happens on a path of the journey. One way is to look at it through eyes that lack vision. Eyes that have no vision see this period as a stale mate thinking they haven’t won but neither has the other side. They get distracted and move on to something else momentary. The other half will feel cheated and stay stuck in the moment: never moving any further because they are afraid that what they want is not on the other side. When we’re able to comprehend what this period is for we’ll understand that all we believe, dream, and hope for is attainable and we’ll use this period like a training camp for the Best of the best. There are those of us who are willing to do this because we know this time is limited and that we must use it to get better. The main goal for anyone during this period is to know every tool in their own arsenal. They know that they need to know how those tools work and when they work best.

This period is the period of all periods. It helps you to get all the answers to all the questions you’ve ever asked and just had to know. You get the time to read up on everything that will help you to grow. You get to mull over the lessons that you are learning, as well as learn how to use what you’re learning for the next whatever on your journey. You get to plan how you’ll use the lesson during your next situation. You get to prepare yourself for the vision that you’ve created for yourself. You get to plan it out and watch it happen as it unfolds. This period is so much more for the person has dares to have a vision for it.

It’s not that those lacking vision can’t gain some insight or have an “Aha” type moment and begin to move past the slow jam and understand what this moment is for. Everything is possible when we work to find out more during this period. A standstill offers a time to work through issues that could potentially cause problems and hinder us from moving forward.  These hindrances can begin to build jams or cause obstacles in our life when we refuse to move forward psychologically. Seeing little happening at this time is often due to our inability to gain the full understanding what to do with the time we have.

When we are in the space where nothing seems to be happening little do we know that’s when everything is happening. This area of time is fertile ground because whatever we plant or water during this season is what we produce when it’s time to harvest. Those that use this time wisely know that during this hour, the time becomes now to hone our skills and master our craft. No one who goes into battle practices during the battle.

Many people get fooled into thinking that nothing is happening during this period when this period is proven to be the most crucial. It is the period where we either make it or break it. We have all been given a certain amount of time with a specific goal of mastering ourselves.  If you allow yourself to get distracted you risk losing your place in life and have to go back to the beginning. Although this period can get a little lonely, the alone time done right will ensure that when you come out you’ll be the best you that you’ve ever been. And because you used your time wisely you’ll be that much more of a light to the people you want to help most. Most people can’t get past the point of not being able to sit still and work. In fantasy the dream seems closer but in reality it takes work. Have the courage to only dream for you but to go after everything else as well.

Catapulting your dreams into reality comes when you dedicate yourself to working on those areas that stop you from being the person you want to be. That’s what you are doing when you say yes to life. Saying yes to life often means that you will say yes to the moments like standstills that might not feel like movement because they feel like work. Work was created to bring out the best in you so that you could walk in your gift with a level of confidence and pride. For most of us the goal is to be able to take care of ourselves and our families with our gift.

When you use the time allotted to master yourself, no one can beat you at being you. No one can do the things you do because you have mastered you. And no one else can master you without your permission.  Use your standstill moment to help you gain control of your under-developed areas. Be creative while standing still so that you cut out those habits that would hinder you from moving forward.

InkMann Press Series ~ The Weekend

PicsArt_11-23-08.43.31Today I was going over my weekend in my head and I wasn’t certain how it had gone.  After thinking about the plans that I had set for the weekend, I realized that I had done everything I set out to do. Although everything went as planned it was my mulling over my intentions that made me feel like something was missing. In reflecting over the events of the weekend I came across some weak spots; the kind of weak spots where you know for certain that you could’ve done better.  My instant response was  for me to be disappointed for a moment but I knew I couldn’t stay and needed to change my thinking so I told myself that I had to do better the next time.

I truly feel proud as I realized that I could change the tone of my life by changing the conversation that I have with myself. And I am excited to know that with small changes you can have big victories and in turn get everything in life that you are working hard for. I often times have to remind myself like many I have a ways to go but it’s not as far as I think. And I know for sure that it’s the staying the course that will help you grow.

I must be transparent and admit that I have schisms at times, but who doesn’t. I’ve seen those schisms appear when the Universe has granted me the things I’ve stated that I wanted most, as well as what I convinced myself that I could handle.  I think the problem was that I wasn’t fully aware of all the necessary things that I’d have to do to get it, keep it, and maintain it.

I’ve always said that I wanted to be in a space where I’m able to grow and reach my fullest potential. But I never counted on having to be taught, chastised, or challenged. It’s through this entire growing process that I’ve learned how to put my ego in check and put things into perspective, and lead with wisdom.

I recognize my own human frailties and realize that if you have a vision for yourself allowing ego to rise up and stay will get you nowhere and keep you stuck right where you are.

You ever have someone try to talk to you about you but you’ve been doing you for so long that your schisms have become habits? You don’t even know that you have these schismatic habits until someone pulls your coat tail and you’re face to face with yourself. It’s those times that you’re forced to really look at you, and all that you do.

When you’re walking in ego and your habits are called into question your feelings get hurt and you feel like your toes have gotten stepped on. Usually one of two things will happen; you’ll either go off on the person that you feel stepped on your toes and act like they’re wrong for doing so. Or you’ll let it burn for about 3 seconds, swallow, and then take a look at what they’re saying from a different angle. The key is to always go outside of yourself to feel what they see. Their response to you might have something to do with what ‘you’ do and how ‘you’ do it. I had to admit that when others tell you about you it doesn’t always feel good. But in fact that is what is needed some times. Now the question is; what will you do? Hopefully the answer is that you’ll tell the ego to go sit down somewhere, take the information as it is given, find out where the issue comes from, release it, and change the behavior?  If you don’t, ego will leave you in places you didn’t want to be. Places you look up from many years later to see past opportunities not taken. When we know better we should do better.

All of that is what I got from my weekend when I recognized some of the weak spots that had taken place and why they had taken place. You’re probably wondering why I was going over my weekend looking for weak spots in the first place.  I vowed about eight months ago that I wouldn’t do anything else half way again. No matter where I am in life I want to always strive to better myself in every area.  The truth is I have a new found respect for self improvement and doing the work that makes the work the best work that can ever be done.

InkMann Press Series- Where the rubber and the road meet

There is a place where the rubber and the road meet.

PicsArt_11-23-08.43.31

I’m thankful to be able to have a moment to think and slow down the pace for awhile. It’s time to go deeper. Have you ever gone to that place just below the surface only because something more takes greater commitment? The place where you’re close enough that you could let go without attachment. However, if you chose to move forward you still had a ways to go. I decided to go further.

When I began to ponder what’s next, three different experiences came to mind; the work, the effort, and the process.  Effort isn’t ‘all’ physical. If you can do it in your mind you’ll do it physically. When we begin to envision ourselves in better experiences we release ourselves to the energy of it and we draw those experiences to us. If there was something that you just had to do you’d tell yourself you’re going to do it and you’d actually do it.

I’m finding that it’s not always so easy. I keep hearing “if it was easy everyone would be doing it.” I laugh at myself because I must’ve thought I was extra special and I wouldn’t have to really do it all as if it was going to be easy and it’s not. Not that kind of easy to mock the process but almost how a lot of other things in life have been easy to you before. You have to think differently, do things differently, and be intentional about it all, everything. You can’t just do a couple of hours here and there or do better today but maybe not again for another couple of days. You have to wake up with a new mindset everyday and it doesn’t REnew until it has caught up to the process. It’s not until your mind understands it, looks for it, and knows that it is necessary.

You have to be mindful that everything is working to teach you more every moment. In our day we’re usually too busy to slow down and to catch it. Catch up to the process, so that we can make the effort, thus do the work.

Catch the moment, learn those lessons that school you for the next moment and adds a piece of transformation to your universal arsenal. The one you need to go out and master yourself with.

Gifts

I don’t know if gifts work

that way

people keep saying

to try and please

everybody

else

instead of trying to please you

I don’t know

something feels weird

about that

just giving ourselves

away

like that. ~ Kaiology Kai Mann © 2014

You’ve got to do some work

I’m trying to continue in a positive

thought

trying to dismiss and not stuff

down

the negative that wants to try

and choke me out

I remind myself what God

has already done

I didn’t think

that I would have to sit back

at times

and go hard on others

I didn’t know what it would

look like

I’m not complaining

but you’ve got to do some work

you gotta go to a place so deep

deep in your soul

not your heart because it’s too

emotional

but that place that takes

you to another level

A level you know is there

and you just want

to see what that’s like

You have to give yourself

some leeway

it’s not all going to be perfect

sometimes it will

and it’ll be worth it

but it’s not going to happen

every time

but you have to keep trying

it’s there.
