>Thought You Knew

>You thought you knew exactly what you need
So you opened up the Flower without watering the seed
You told yourself that it is no longer about wants
As you still have nightmares from the past that haunts
You thought that he would be your rescue
Even after the first time he broke curfew
You ate his words as if they were Manna
He played your heart like the melody of Santana
To him you did everything except bow
Purring at every word as if he was the Cat’s Meow
You ate everything that he had fed
And seemingly he had filled your head
You gave him a magic carpet ride
Giving him everything that you had inside
Then after he had taken all that you gave
He began to treat you like an 18th Century slave
You acted as if you didn’t understand
While he fed you from the palm of his hand
You let his words become your truth
And no one else could give you proof
It wasn’t until you finally saw yourself
That he had taken away your Beauty & Wealth
And now it seems your Flower won’t bloom
Because you looked to the wrong one to be your groom
