>Tags & Labels

>People put tags and labels on you like you’re goods to be sold
Let people just be people because those labels are getting old
Tags placed on people do not define who they are
Labeling them doesn’t do them any justice and doesn’t get them very far
Let them stand for who they are in their own right
And for who they are they should not have to fight
Let them free to be just because they are already
Not because you think tags and labels will maintain them and keep them steady
Tags, labels, and boxes does not a craftsman make
But designing those things can put one’s life at stake
Why is it so important to define who one is
Isn’t life hard enough just trying to live
Are we neatly trying to categorize everyone to put them away on some shelf
Or are we secretly trying to identify them to prove they are different from one’s self.
Or are we playing tag so we know who’s “it”
So we can classify them as unworthy and say they ain’t worth shit
Why can’t we just take people as they are
And not try to put labels on them like some kind of car
Are they a KIA or a Mercedes Benz because that makes them better
At least it lets us know who holds the cheddar
So if we took away all the tags and labels making us equally the same
How about some people would be horrified and that is ashame
Because some people need tags and labels to define who they are
For without them they don’t feel like a Star
