Twenty-two years ago a warrior was born
Bravery, Courage, and Confidence is what he was adorned
He was the first “Mann” warrior of three to come
He was my closest companion and to me, he was the one
The one who was entrusted with a commanding presence
And a machismo that nurtured his modest essence
He was the first to approach many compelling things
But mostly to be the example of what life brings
A true warrior to exact many adverse challenges
To know the weight of the scales that one balances
I remember holding you and not believing that you came from me
Thinking to myself that you were a King to be
I lavished so much love on your little soul
And when you were sleeping I’d whisper words of love that you could behold
I remember one day being asleep
And awaking to the pitter patter of little feet
I remember the little hands that would pull open my eyes
And I’d laugh heartily as it gave you the biggest surprise
You and I share the deepest of history
And we know of a Mother Son love that is without mystery
I love you Son without a shadow of a doubt
And if I was standing on top of a Mountain that is exactly what I’d shout
Happy Birthday My African King!!!
May The Creator Bless You With Countless More!
